Our Tutors

Founded in 1997 in Allen, Texas, Tutoring 101 is owned and operated by Tanya Donaghey, a certified teacher who has over 20 years of experience educating students, both in and out of the classroom.  She has three children and as a parent, former teacher, and business owner, she understands the professionalism required to help the students and support the tutors.

We hire only degreed tutors, many of whom are award-winning teachers or professors from area schools. We believe in taking time to understand the whole child and the dynamics in their lives which can impact their ability to learn and grow.

Our tutors live and work primarily in the Allen/Lovejoy/Plano/McKinney area and therefore are very familiar with the curriculum and teaching approaches in the local school districts.  Many have had their own children attend school in these districts.  Our tutors have the vantage point of both teacher and parent and as a result have insights many parents find helpful.

We have an extensive search process for only the highest quality tutors.  Each of our tutors is a certified teacher who is chosen for their intuitive ability to communicate with students and their scholastic expertise in their area of specialty. 

Our tutors specialize in elementary education, math skills through the college level, reading skills from pre-k through SAT prep, science and foreign language at all levels.  We also have summer enhancement workshops, study skills and speed reading classes.  We have comprehensive SAT/PSAT and ACT test preparation classes taught by teachers that have been leading these classes for many years.
